Shop Conscious is for supporting local, eco-friendly, BIPOC-owned, woman-owned, refurbished, handmade, fair trade, organic, cottage industry, recycled, B-Corp, secondhand, or otherwise socially conscious businesses. Products, services and communities endorsed through this site offer users a chance to vote with their dollars for a better world, and are also highly curated for quality.

We use the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals as our over-arching guide for what a ‘better world’ means, and allow shoppers the opportunity to purchase based not only on quality, but by their values as well.

Whether a particular offering suits a shopper’s personal values is up to them alone, and not all offerings will match everyone’s particular tastes. And that is OK! Quality and price will still be great, no matter what.

Founder Cate Vegas realized the need for a curated marketplace that aspires to be more, while acknowledging that shoppers can be imperfect socially conscious activists. Not every item needs to be zero waste, or recycled, or secondhand to be socially conscious, and not every activist needs to champion every cause. Progress is incremental, and that’s what Shop Conscious encourages!
